About this directory

Competitions in physical AI, from robot soccer and rescue robots to agricultural machines and autonomous vehicles, are scattered across federation sites, university pages and vendor blogs. There is no single place that says where and when they happen, who can enter, and how to reach the organisers. This directory is that place, built as open data that anyone can correct.

Status

This is a pilot with a small, hand-checked set of entries. It exists to test whether the data model and the contribution flow work before the directory is filled. Entries marked unverified have not yet been checked against the organiser's own site.

Data and licences

The data is dedicated to the public domain (CC0). Download it as JSON. The site code is MIT licensed. Country outlines come from Natural Earth. City coordinates are looked up with Nominatim from OpenStreetMap data.

Facts are recorded with their sources. Summaries are written by contributors in their own words.

What the labels mean

Active: an edition is planned or confirmed, or the last one was recent enough for the competition's usual cadence. Dormant: nothing recent and nothing announced. Ended: deliberately finished.

Umbrella events such as RoboCup host several leagues. Teams enter a league, so leagues are the competitions and the umbrella holds the dates and venues.

Who can enter is read as a restriction: the kinds of team a competition is limited to (school, university, research) and, where entry is limited to teams from certain countries, which ones. A competition with no restriction recorded is shown as open to everyone and marked "not recorded". It comes from the organiser's published rules as recorded by contributors. Always check the current call.

Upcoming only keeps competitions with a planned or confirmed edition that has not finished yet, including editions announced without dates. Past editions stay on the competition pages and in the timeline of the map when the filter is off.

Apply by is the application or registration deadline recorded for the next edition. "Applications still open" lists competitions whose deadline has not passed; a missing deadline means nobody has recorded one yet, not that it has closed.

Map marks: a solid pin is an exact venue; a hollow pin is a city centre; a dashed circle means only the region or country is known. Online editions are listed but not mapped.
